Day 364: Still No Love From Monks

These waters contains muskellunge.
When: Thursday, May 10th, from 5:30pm to 9:30pm
Where: Monksville Reservoir
What: Musky fishing with Matt
Weather: Mostly cloudy and windy, W wind at 13mph and gusting to 21mph
Barometric Pressure: 29.66in and rising
Relative Humidity: 38%
Moon: Waning, just before the third quarter
Water Conditions: Stained in some places, better in others

So what does an obsessed angler do the day before going musky fishing?

He goes musky fishing...of course.

Matt asked me if I had a night I could hit Monks after work this week, and I can always squeeze in some time to go fishing, especially for musky. Plus, with the whole "365" thing coming to a close, I thought the Fish Gods might have some sympathy for me and hand me down my first Monksville ski.

We did the usual, casting weedbeds and shoreline in hopes of hooking one the elusive monsters, but they didn't want to eat. Or at least they didn't want to eat what we were offering. Matt had one fish take a shot at his lure at the boat, but other than that we didn't move any fish.

We stayed on the water until after dark, but it just wasn't to be.

I read somewhere once that musky fishermen really have to love the outdoors, because some days the fish are just not going to bite.

I've had a bunch of those days lately, but I feel like I'm doing the right thing and there is no way I am giving up.
