Day 357: A Hunch That Wasn't

Cloudy and cold. Cloudy...and....cold.
When:  Thursday, May 3rd, from 5:30pm to 8pm
Where: Lake Hopatcong
What: Musky fishing
Weather: Cloudy, 60 degrees, calm wind to South at 5mph
Barometric Pressure: 30.09in and steady
Relative Humidity: 84%
Moon: Waxing, a day or so before full
Water Conditions: Stained from previous night's storms, water temps from 55 to 59 degrees

Don't tell anyone, but not all of my great ideas pan out like I expect them too. This was one of those cases.

When I saw the weather report of cloudy skies and light South wind on Thursday, I decided to hit-up lake Hopatcong after work, even if it was only for a couple hours. I figured these would be prime conditions to hook a fish, but a fish I did not hook.

I rented a boat from Laurie at Dow's and gave it hell as long as I could, but the water and air seemed cold and the fish did not seem to be stirring.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, such is musky fishing.
