No fish today, but an interesting revelation.
I headed to what I thought was Spooky Brook Lake on my lunch today. I have fished there two or three times already and have even caught a bass from it. When I arrived, there were two other fishermen already working the water. I began casting on the opposite side of the lake and carefully worked my way around, not getting in their way.
When I was deemed "close enough," I headed across the road to the "other part of Spook Brook," to take a few casts in there. It was then that one of the fisherman informed me that the "other part," was closed for trout stocking.
Now a bit puzzled, I asked a few questions and came to find out that I had actually not been fishing in Spooky Brook these last few weeks, but in Powder Mill Pond. Although Spooky Brook receives stocked trout and is closed until opening day, Powder Mill does not and fishing is permitted.
So, I finished my time at Powder Mill Pond, not catching anything, but realizing I now have another fishing spot close to my office.
