I've planned my next musky adventure around that waxing moon.
When: Tuesday, March 6th, from 5:30pm to 6pm
Where: Lake Nomahegan in Cranford
What: Bass fishing with Wave Tiki Sticks
Weather: Partly cloudy, 42 degrees, S wind at 8mph
Barometric Pressure: 30.56in and steady
Moon: Waxing, a couple days before full
Water Conditions: Partly stained
After the mild weather we've had the past few months, I almost expect it to be 65 degrees every time that I walk out the door. It's the first week of March, my clock seems to be way ahead and I feel like it should be summer already.
However, when my fingers are stinging after 15 minutes of fishing because it's closer to 40 degrees and the wind is whipping, it reminds me that Old Man Winter is doing everything he can to not let this one slip through it's fingers.
Ironically, as I'm taking note of the cold, if you're reading this on Wednesday or Thursday in New Jersey, the mercury is probably hovering somewhere between 60 and 70 degrees.
It's been that kind of winter.
So, I keep doing my best. The winter tactics are wrapped-up and I'll be bass fishing during the week until I feel like the carp are ready. Saturday is Daylight Savings Time too. And tomorrow will be my 300th day.
Exciting things on the horizon, including the end not too far off in the distance.
