Day 298: Settling In

Spooky Brook Lake in Somerset.
When: Monday, March 5th, from 12:15pm to 12:45pm
Where: Spooky Brook Lake in Colonial Park, Somerset County
What: Bass fishing with a Wave Tiki Stick
Weather: Cool and windy, fair skies, 41 degrees, W wind at 9mph and gusting to 16mph
Barometric Pressure: 30.01in and steady
Moon: Waxing, a few days before full
Water Conditions: Mucho mudd

Fifth day at the new job and I'm already starting to work in the fishing with a little less stress. The way I see it, I get in early, I stay late and I get a lunch hour. I only take 45 minutes of it, but it gives me enough time to fish during the day. It makes doing what I need to do after work a lot easier.

I thought I had exhausted all fishing holes near my job for the week, but a last-minute peek at Google Maps revealed that my office is only 2 miles from Colonial Park and Spooky Brook Lake.

The clock struck 12:15, and off I went. And back before 1pm.

I had actually been to this pond waaaayyyyyy back in the day, and I've read since that there are a few hefty bass in there. I tossed the same white Tiki Stick that produced the fish on Saturday, but the water was really muddy and nothing was stirring. I probably should have switched colors, but I fished pretty hard for the required 30 minutes and went back to work.

Just another day at the office.
