Day 285: The Furnace Delivers

My first musky of 2012.
When:  Tuesday, February 21st, from 9am to 1pm
Where: Furnace Lake in Oxford, Warren County
What: Musky fishing with Tom
Weather: Cold and windy, 25 degrees and warmed to the mid-40's, but the wind made it feel colder. Mostly sunny to cloudy, S wind at 9mph and gusting to 20mph
Barometric Pressure: 30.20in and falling
Moon: New
Water Conditions: Partly stained, 37 degrees

Well this turned out to be a nice day....except for all the wind.

I had been fishing with Tom once before and we had a blast. Since we both had off, we decided to take advantage of the decent weather and the new moon and see if we couldn't catch a fish or two at the Furnace.

The Furnace was fickle as always, but I did get one bite on a 6-inch, perch-colored Phantom.

And I made it count.

I'd love to write more about this great day with Tom, but I'm trying to get errands done so I can head to Lake Hopatcong tomorrow.
