Day 272: Finally, A Fish...Kind Of

A small whateveritis from the Trap and Skeet pond.

When: Wednesday, February 8th, from 5:15pm to 5:45pm
Where: The trap and skeet pond near Kenilworth, Union County, New Jersey
What: Carp fishing
Weather: Overcast, light snow, 35 degrees, variable winds to 5mph
Barometric Pressure: 30.20in and steady
Moon: Waning, a day after full
Water Conditions: Low and stained
Although this wasn't the big carp I was hoping for,at least I got a bite today.

After work on Wednesday, I decided to take a short drive to the trap and skeet pond where I've caught carp and some huge wild goldfish. As soon as I got there, I threw a can of creamed-corn in the water and 20 minutes later, the biting started. Cream-corn definitely seems to work the fish into a frenzy.

I caught two fish, but no carp. One of them was the big goldfish you see above. I had a few other bites, but only fished for the required 30 minutes before I had to leave.

That's it for now. Coffee is brewing and I have a big day today.
