Day 241: More Baiting And Waiting

Waiting for action at Lenape Lake.
When: Sunday, January 8th, from 12pm to 12:30pm
Where: Lenape Lake
What: Fishing
Weather: Mostly cloudy, 46 degrees, NW wind at 13mph and gusting to 21
Barometric Pressure: 30.21in and steady
Moon: As full as can be
Water Conditions: Cold and fairly clear

There has never been any doubt that the Fish Gods have a sense of humor.

Sundays are generally not Fun-days, as I have writing to do in addition to chores, blogs and...fishing. Because of the former, I did not have much time to do the latter and 30 minutes was going to be the max.

Or so I thought.

I had some nightcrawlers in the fridge that I bought at Effinger's earlier in the week and I headed to Lenape Lake around noon with them in tow. I set one off the bottom and one under a float...

And waited.

I did my best to put the crawlers in several locations that I though a fish might be hanging, but nothing seemed to be stirring.

Until...

Minutes before I was about to leave, I got a decent bite. This was obviously a cruel joke from the Fish Gods since I needed to go home and that would have been nearly-impossible after seeing a sign of life. So, I waited it out a bit longer...and nothing.

I guess I should get used to that though, there's probably gonna be a whole lot more "nothing" until we get some ice or the weather starts getting warm again.
