Day 218: On A Mission

The D & R Canal near Carnegie Lake in Princeton
When: Friday, December 16th, from 9am to 10am
Where: The D & R Canal
What: Fishing
Weather: Partly cloudy and breezy, 48 degrees, NW at 21 mph and gusting to 30mph
Barometric Pressure: 29.83in and rising
Moon: Waning, close to the last quarter
Water Conditions: Stained

It's 10:30pm right now and I'm lying in bed in the nicest Holiday Inn I've ever seen in my entire life. The temperature outside is mighty chilly and I just had dinner with two guys who know a thing or two about fishing.

Could I be any more vague?

Probably not, but I'm not going to say much more about where I am or why I'm here until after Christmas.

I can tell you that on my way to meet who I was meeting, I did my 30 minutes of fishing at the D & R Canal near Princeton. I was hoping to entice a pickerel or possibly even one of those musky I've heard they've put in there, but it turned out to be mostly uneventful. I tossed Rapala Husky Jerks and X-Raps along the banks and did get a follow from a HUGE pickerel, but it didn't commit.

Oh well.

To be honest, it was pretty hard to get excited about fishing anywhere in New Jersey in comparison to what I'll be doing this weekend.

I guess that's all for now. I'm pretty beat after the drive and I have a loooonnnggg two days of fishing ahead of me.
