Day 213: Playing It Safe

One of a two sunfish caught on a quick trip near home.

When: Sunday, December 11th, from 5pm to 5:30pm
Where: Lenape Lake
What: Fishing
Weather: Fair skies, 40 degrees, variable wind at 5mph
Barometric Pressure: 30.62in and steady
Moon: Waning, just after full
Water Conditions: Stained

I'm exhausted.

It's almost 8pm, I have not stopped running around all day and there is still more to be done. Not to mention, in the midst of the cleaning, shopping, gift registering and preparing that was going down today...I had to go fishing and to write a couple blogs.

It's days when there's not a second to spare that finding time to write and fish is most difficult and that happens a lot more than you would think.

Pretty much everyday.

The day started where I wish everyday could start...the Short Hills Mall. Lindsay and I have been trying to pin down a few hours to register for quite some time, and today was our latest opportunity. It's pretty obvious that hitting the mall on a Sunday two weeks before Christmas for such a reason is probably not the best idea, but the fact is there were no other options.

A couple hours was all I could handle.

Then, it was several hours of trying to get all my ducks in a row so that I could enjoy the next couple of days, which I have off from work. I could have made a better effort to have an exciting fishing adventure today, but as you shall soon see, the next week or so is filled with plenty of adventure and I needed the time to prepare for it more than I needed to catch a big fish today.

So, although I only caught a couple small sunnies on nightcrawlers, just after dark today, I wasn't too disappointed. I caught a few fish last week, I'll be on Greenwood Lake all day tomorrow, I'll be tog fishing with Lido, Capt. Al and maybe Martalus on Tuesday and next weekend.....

Well next weekend is going to be the climax of the year, but you're gonna have to wait a bit to find out about that.
