Never say never.
I had put away the carp rods and swore off carp fishing for the year, however, the unseasonably warm weather made me think they might be biting. And they were.....
I headed to Milton Lake after work and set out the chum in the appropriate manner. I could see a few carp feeding, so I was semi-optimistic.
Upon setting my line in the water, I immediately had a run-off. As I went to set the hook, I could see the big fish make a wake and swim off, but without my hook in its mouth. That was okay though, because after such quick action, I was sure to get another chance.
I did indeed get another pick-up on the next cast, but that didn't connect either and was all the action I had for the day.
I would normally be a little bummed, but work is going pretty well right now, I have a ton of time off over the next few weeks and will actually get to spend some time with Lindsay and I've been fishing for 200 days in a row.
Ain't life grand.
