Day 161: Carping In The Wind

A windy day at the pond.
When: Thursday, October 20th, from 5:30pm to 6pm
Where: Wilson Park Pond in Linden
What: Carp fishing
Weather: Windy, 20mph SW wind with gusts to 30, 61 degrees, cloudy
Barometric Pressure: 29.58in and rising
Moon: Waning, a couple days after the last quarter
Water Conditions: Murky

I'm all too aware that I haven't caught a decent fish in a couple of weeks.

So, I figured I'd take another shot at carp fishing. Someone had told me the park pond behind Linden high-school has a ton of big carp in it, and since it wasn't too far from my house, I decided to check it out.

The conditions were tough as it was incredibly windy, but I kept at it for 30 minutes or so.

I did get a couple of takers and one run-off, but I didn't connect with any fish.

Oh well.

Fall is definitely in full swing now, with windy cold days and colder nights. Most lakes should be fully turned over pretty soon and the stripers are marching down the coast.

There's still plenty of time to catch a trophy this year.
