Life, fishing and sales. They may as well be one and same: a series of dull, often frustrating moments punctuated by intervals of moments sublime.

When you're on top, the world is beneath you. When you're struggling, it's hard to remember the last time you were on top and it's hard to imagine ever getting back there again.

But it's cyclical.....always. And anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.

I've had too much experience in this the veritable roller coaster to think any other way. And I draw strength from it. After spending 5 hours on a wind-blown lake without a bite, it's hard to recall the 10-pound carp that was caught just days earlier. After going weeks without a new business prospect, it's hard to remember all the positive meetings that have been taking place in the meantime. When life seems dreary, it's hard to remember that countless hurdles have already been conquered, and will continue to be overcome with the proper initiative and a little faith.

Once again, I did not get a bite in my 30 minutes of fishing. It's been a difficult Fall on many fronts, but I continue to trudge forward.

After all, I've been here before and I will be again.

And something always gives.
