Day 130: Right Around The Corner

Just steps from my front door.....
When: Monday, September 19th, from 5:15pm to 6pm
Where: A small canal in my neighborhood
What: Fishing
Weather: Mostly cloudy, 66 degrees, SE wind at 7mph
Barometric Pressure: 30.18in and steady
Moon: Waning, almost to the last quarter
Water Conditions: Low and clear

This week has not started off much better than last week. September, and the fall for that matter, has traditionally been a crummy time of year for me. Whether that has anything to do with my recent frustrations.......I don't know, but I can tell you it's pretty hard to find the time and energy to fish and write everyday when I'm feeling like crap.

But I perservere.

After yet another long, depressing day at work where once again nothing seemed to go my way, I stopped home for some dinner. Seeing as I had a 6pm appointment, I could not venture too far from my house. After weighing my options, I decided to try the little canal around the corner for the first time since fishing it during the big storm.

At least something went right.

I was really hoping to catch a fish from this little brook to confirm that my spot during Hurricane Irene actually had something living in it. I would up catching a bunch. Over the course of 30 or 40 minutes, I pulled in a nice collection of bluegills, killifish and banded killifish. I now know where to go the next time I need bait.

After that, it was back home and back into my work clothes....to go to an appointment that would cancel on me.

One day........
