Day 88: Keeping The Streak Alive: Success and Turmoil

Note on missing photography: Although I forgot to bring my camera with me, I was able to take a few pictures of the snappers I caught in Great Kills Harbor on Monday. Shortly after taking those pictures, I dropped my phone between the rocks, and although I was able to retrieve it, it was cooked. I did the whole "rice thing" and my phone came partially back from the dead, but not enough to the point where it was usable or that I could retrieve my photos. I appreciate everyone asking me where my posts have been, and so you know, I have still been fishing every day. The posts are coming late as I try to work through the "phone ordeal." I rely heavily upon my phone for work and needed to attend to this situation.

When: Monday, August 8th, from 5:30pm to 6pm
Where: Great Kills Harbor in Staten Island
What: Snapper fishing
Weather: Hot and windy
Moon: Waxing, a 6 days before full
Water Conditions/Tide: Tide looked just about dead-high.

You can probably piece together how my fishing adventure went from I wrote above.

I bought spearing from Great Kills Bait and Tackle after work and was having a jolly time catching big 'ol snappers. I hooked into a few larger ones that bit me off and I even saw a bunch of rays crashing on the surface just 10 yards from shore.

I was having a lot of fun and just as I was about to leave.......it happened.

After using it to take a few pictures of the snappers I caught, my phone fell out of my hand, onto the rocks and into the drink.

I don't want to get into the whole ordeal, but it's been a real pain.

All that being said, I kept my streak alive and have now caught fish on 7 consecutive days. I highly doubt that will continue, because after spending my morning trying to fix my phone, looking for a used phone then buying a new phone, I am super-swamped and have no idea where I'm fishing later.

Wish me luck!!!
