Day 55: Beaten By The Buzzer

The scenery at one of my quiet spots on the Rahway River.

When: Wednesday, July 6th, from 6:40pm to 7:30pm
Where: The Rahway River near Cranford
What: Carp fishing
Weather: Partly Cloudy. 90 degrees. 5 to 10 mph SW wind.
Moon: Waxing. First Quarter.
Water Conditions: Normal.

No one ever likes to leave a fishing hole when they're biting.

I left my house at 6:30pm and knew that I absolutely had to be on my way back at 7:30pm. The closest place that I know to fish is the Rahway River in Cranford, so that's where I went. I had a can of corn, and after putting my bag together, I set out to catch a carp.

I followed the same routine, throwing out a couple handfuls, baiting a hook and waiting. After about 45 minutes, I started seeing a few carp in the swim, I had a couple pick-ups and a runner that didn't connect and then...........

I had to go.

There was no way to get around it.

So, although I had not caught a carp yet, I'm fairly confident that if I had fished a longer that would have changed.

Fortunately, since I'm fishing everyday, there will be plenty of "next times."
