Day 6: A Puddle Of Mud

Lower Echo Lake was nothing but mud after the heavy rain
When: Wednesday, May 18th, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Where: Lower and Upper Echo Lake in Westfield
What: Fishing
Weather: Post-monsoon. Overcast and cool. Calm wind. Periodic rain.
Moon: Waning. A day or two after full.

As I was driving home from work, I was pretty sure that this was going to be a difficult day to get in my 30 minutes.

However, much like everything this week, things just seemed to go my way.

By the time I got home, changed, cooked dinner, ate and was ready to head out the door......the rain had stopped.

Although I caught a break in the weather, I wasn't overly optimistic about how good the fishing was going to be. The day-long monsoon had turned both Upper and Lower Echo Lake into a chocolate lake straight out of Willy Wonka.

Nonetheless, I persisted, got a couple love taps most likely from sunfish and headed back home having finished off another incredible day.

After putting my rod in the trunk and getting in the car.......it started pouring.

So it goes.
Next Up: I have a thicker rod in the car and am going to try my luck on a Staten Island beach.
