Miraculously, this little bass was caught on "the last cast."When: Monday, May 16th, from 5pm to 5:30pm
Where: Rahway River Park Lake
Weather: Cooler. High near 70. Overcast and wet, but not really raining.
Some days you have it, some days you don't.
I had it today.
Although this bass was by all means a "dink," it hit on what was going to be "my last cast" and capped off what was by all means a phenomenal day. I had a few other very good things happen today, one of which involves fishing and writing and.......me, but more on that when it becomes officially official.
I pass by Rahway River Park quite often and decided to actually drive in there today to get my 30 minutes. I had heard there are some decent bass in the park lake and after fishing there, I'm convinced there are some big carp there as well.
I'll be back for them.
For the entire time that I was there today, I tossed wacky-rigged Yum Dingers on a 1/0 Gamakatsu weedless finesse hook with the Home Depot rubber O-Rings just like Bob showed me (thanks Bob). I got a few love taps on the melon Dinger and finally connected after I replaced it with a smoke/pearl Dinger. I was literally ready to pack it in and decided to take one more cast when the fish hit.
That NEVER happens. I mean......never.
This was my first day of fishing on a work day and it did not interfere one bit. Quite obviously, the Rahway River runs through the park as well and I will be back this week to see if I can't fool a trout.
It feels good to be working for the man and living the dream.
Next Up: Day 5. Quite possibly the Rahway River.
