After a great day with the bass, I once again turned my attention back to the golden freshwater monsters......carp.
I have already fished Nomahegan this week, so I needed to go to another pond in Union County. The last time that I was at Rahway River Park, I noticed there were plenty of signs of carp; and that's where I went. I set out with both my boilies and corn, but would not return with any more pictures of big muddy fish.
When I started walking around the pond looking for signs of carp, I eventually came to a spot where I could see a handful of the fish. The one thing that was different about these carp though, is they were not moving around rooting for food. They were just sitting there. I'm no carp expert.....yet.....but I take it this isn't a good sign.
So, I baited and waited for over an hour before having to call it quits. While I was there, I did get some good local knowledge about a couple other places to fish, and I'm going to hit one of them today. On my way back to the car, I snapped the picture of the turtle you see above.
Next Up: The Rahway River (not the pond), for carp.
