A distant view of the Verranzano Bridge from the beach at Gateway National Recreation AreaWhen: Tuesday, May 24th, from 12:30pm to 1pm
Where: Lower Bay, from Gateway National Recreation Area in Staten Island
Weather: Hot. High well into the 80's. Mostly cloudy with a light wind from the SW.
Moon: Day of the last quarter.
It was a hot Tuesday on the island, and admittedly a little difficult to stand on the beach in dress shoes and a button-up shirt.
But I'm determined.
I think in the future, I'm going to have to tweak any lunch-time outings so that I can be a little more comfortable. Maybe just lose the shoes and roll up my pants for the 30 mins. We shall see.
Other than that, it was an amazing day to be on the beach. It would have been better if I didn't have to go back to work.
But I did.....and I did........
After tossing a topwater Ocean Lure (check out http://www.oceanlures.com/) and a no-name bucktail for EXACTLY 30-minutes. I have to admit that my heart wasn't 100% in it, mostly due to the heat and the fact that the 20 guys fishing with bait weren't catching a thing.
When my time was up, I stuck the Surf King back in the car and went back to work like I hadn't missed a beat.
Next Up: Some local fishing followed by 2 VERY exciting outings over the next week. Stay Tuned!!
