Weather:Hot, high into the 90's, partly cloudy and windy in the afternoon.

Waxing. Three days before full.

It was just about a week ago that I was reading Joe Cermele's blog (The Honest Angler) on Field and Stream's website. The title of the post was "Could you handle the pressure of guiding?"http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/bass-fishing/2010/06/cermele-could-you-handle-pressure-guiding

I'm going to answer that with an emphatic, "No."

I got my first taste of what it's like to be a guide. The stakes were high as it was my job to get enough rods bent to make a T.V. show. The episode centered around Lake Hopatcong and Dow's (thanks Laurie), and I was, if you will, the Lake Hopatcong guide.

Although I'm not going to divulge too much (you'll have to wait until the show airs), I am happy to inform you that it was a successful day.

It did take awhile to get things going though.

The stripers weren't hungry off the Yacht Club in the morning and after Pine Tree Point only produced one pickerel, I was starting to get a little nervous. I did save my "money spot" for last though, and shortly after the anchors were set the fish started biting. Trolling produced more fish and a nice surprise.

I did my share of fishing, however, I made sure that Bill and Darren were in the hot zone. This was one of those rare instances when I was more than content watching everyone else catching the fish. I made a few contributions to the days total, including a personal best pickerel, probably over 4 pounds.

I guess that's about all I'm going to say about that. I can tell you that I slept much better on Wednesday night than I did on Tuesday night. This was a wonderful experience, but I think I'm content with writing and doing my "fishing-related work" when I'm not on the water.

Thanks again to Laurie and Lou. Please check out the The New Jersey Angler Video Magazine on Comcast Sports Network. This episode will air some time in July and it will be my T.V. debut!!!!!
